The Audit & Risk Leaders Network (the Leaders Network) is a peer-to-peer network for senior internal audit and risk leaders, including chief audit executives and chief risk officers s who are responsible for audit and risk at an organisational level.

Audit & Risk Leaders Network
The Leaders Network brings together leaders working in complex environments who face similar strategic and governance challenges. It provides a confidential space to connect with peers, exchange insights and discuss emerging issues in audit, risk and governance.
Participation in the Leaders Network is by invitation or peer referral. Membership is intentionally limited to ensure the group remains senior, relevant and genuinely peer-based. When considering participation, IIA-Australia looks at factors such as leadership role, organisational scale and overall balance across industries and sectors.
The Leaders Network is limited to in-house audit and risk leaders. Consultants, service providers and vendors are not eligible.
Members typically come from larger and more complex organisations, including listed companies and other environments with mature audit and risk functions.

The Audit & Risk Leaders Network meets quarterly, with a mix of face-to-face and virtual sessions. Meetings are driven by issues raised by members themselves, focusing on the challenges CAEs and CROs face in leading audit and risk functions.

From time to time, sessions may include contributions from selected speakers, but the core of each meeting is peer discussion. Discussions are held under the Chatham House Rule, allowing members to speak openly, compare approaches and test thinking with peers.

Through these sessions, members gain practical insights, explore emerging audit, risk and governance issues, and build strong connections with a group of peers they can reach out to well beyond the formal meetings.
In this way, the Leaders Network supports not only individual members, but also the broader profession, by surfacing emerging issues, sharing tested approaches and strengthening collective leadership across audit and risk.

The fee for the Audit & Risk Leaders Network subscription is $2,900 + GST, which includes your IIA-Australia membership (valued at $690).
Audit & Risk Leaders Network – Eligibility Criteria
The Leaders Network is a curated professional forum for senior internal audit and risk leaders. Prospective members must meet the following criteria:
Chief Audit Executive (CAE) or Chief Risk Officer Role – Membership is limited to individuals with overall responsibility for their organisation’s internal audit or risk function, such as a Chief Audit Executive, Head of Internal Audit, Chief Risk Officer or equivalent senior assurance leader.
Invite-Only Admission – Participation is by invitation or peer referral, helping maintain a senior and relevant peer group.
Willingness to Support the Profession– Network members are expected to support the profession at large through contributing to the discussion and participating in the IIA-Australia community.
In-House Leaders Only – Eligibility is limited to practising in-house audit and risk leaders. Consultants, service providers and vendors are not eligible.
Commitment to Participation and Confidentiality – Network members are expected to contribute actively, share insights with peers, and participate under the Chatham House Rule.
Organisational Scale and Complexity – Eligibility is typically limited to leaders working in organisations of sufficient scale and complexity to support peer-level discussion among CAEs and CROs operating in comparable governance, stakeholder and risk environments.
Balanced Representation Across Industries and Sectors – IIA-Australia may also consider the overall composition of the Network to maintain a balanced mix of industries, sectors and organisational contexts. Admission decisions may therefore also take overall cohort composition into account.
