Theo Conias, Director, Axiar

Theo Conias is an experienced governance, risk and assurance executive with more than 15 years of experience across public, private and listed entities in Australia and internationally. He holds CPA, CIA, PMIIA and PPC qualifications, together with a range of additional credentials in governance, data analytics, quality management and continuous improvement. Theo has held senior leadership roles as an independent member of Audit and Risk Committees, Chief Audit Executive and Head of Internal Audit, Chief Executive Officer, and Associate Director at BDO Australia. He also founded Axiar, a boutique risk advisory firm recognised for quality and technical excellence, eight years ago.

Theo’s work is characterised by a focus on excellence, continuous improvement and the delivery of measurable value through strengthening organisational capability and functional maturity. He has transitioned internal audit functions from compliance oriented models to risk based, insight driven assurance services that extend beyond control assessment to support organisations in achieving their vision, mission and purpose through a structured, risk informed approach. With expertise spanning governance, enterprise risk management, internal audit, security, artificial intelligence, fraud and investigations, and advanced business intelligence, Theo is a trusted advisor across all lines of defence and a collaborative partner to executive leadership and Audit and Risk Committees.

Reflecting his commitment to continuous learning and the advancement of the profession, Theo has dedicated significant time to professional associations and education as a lecturer, facilitator, master trainer and mentor. He has contributed to organisations including the Institute of Internal Auditors, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, Microsoft and Corporate World Intelligence, and regularly travels the world training and educating the next generation of industry leaders. 

 

Peter Sheville, Director, C&N Audit Services 

 

Peter brings over four decades of experience delivering professional services across Australia, the United Kingdom, and Thailand. Since beginning his career in 1983, he has built a reputation as a people focused leader who is passionate about developing high performing teams and delivering exceptional service to clients.

 

With deep expertise spanning accounting, outsourced business services, audit, risk advisory, corporate governance, internal audit, controls assurance, and performance audit, Peter has successfully built and led multiple professional services businesses. His extensive technical knowledge includes internal audit, financial reporting, business and financial systems, business analysis, performance measurement, and assurance and risk advisory services.

 

Peter is also an experienced board and audit committee member, bringing strong governance insight and practical understanding of organisational performance, risk, and compliance. Peter is currently sitting on 14 Audit and Risk Committees for state and local government and a skills-based Director of a large not-for-profit company.

 

Peter holds a Bachelor of Arts (Accounting) and is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. He is also a Chartered Accountant (Singapore), a Registered Company Auditor and SMSF Auditor with ASIC, and a Registered Organisations Auditor with the Fair Work Commission. His professional development includes a Diploma in Government Fraud Control, a Certificate of Governance and Risk Management from the Governance Institute of Australia, and professional membership with the Institute of Internal Auditors. In addition, Peter is an International Associate of the American Institute of Certified Practising Accountants.
