AI Powered Audit Delivery: A One Day Masterclass in Melbourne
As Internal Audit Awareness Month comes to a close, the strength, energy and curiosity across the profession have been clear.
Over the past month, IIA-Australia has brought internal audit professionals together through practical learning, peer discussion and professional connection, with a strong focus on the future of audit and the capabilities practitioners need to keep pace with change.
A key highlight has been AI Powered Audit Delivery: A One Day Masterclass, with successful sessions already held in Melbourne and Canberra. The hands-on workshop explores how Generative AI can support the delivery of an audit engagement, from planning and testing through to documentation and reporting. Using a simulated audit case study, participants have been able to apply AI in practical audit scenarios while considering the risks, limitations, and governance questions associated with emerging technology.
Facilitated by Portia Cerny, Ratan Kumar and Arcot Parthiban, the AI Powered Audit Delivery: A One Day Masterclass combines practical audit expertise with hands-on application of Generative AI across the audit lifecycle. We also thank EY for hosting the Melbourne and Canberra sessions and supporting these valuable learning opportunities for the profession.
The NSW Small Audit Shop Forum 2026
The month has also highlighted the value of practitioner-led learning and professional connection. The NSW Small Internal Audit Shop Forum brought together professionals from smaller internal audit, quality assurance and related assurance functions for focused discussion on the issues that matter most to smaller teams. Conversations covered AI, audit planning, common operating challenges and practical strategies for delivering assurance with limited resources, demonstrating the value of sharing experiences and learning from peers facing similar challenges.
Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the NSW Small Internal Audit Forum, helping create a valuable and engaging exchange of ideas, experiences and practical insights. We also thank Grant Thornton for hosting the forum and supporting this important opportunity for connection and knowledge sharing across the profession.
Together, these initiatives reflect a vibrant and forward-looking profession that is actively investing in the skills, knowledge and networks needed to navigate an increasingly complex risk environment. As organisations continue to respond to new technologies, evolving risks and changing stakeholder expectations, capability development remains critical to ensuring assurance functions can continue to deliver value.
