Following a pilot program over 2019-20, the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) received funding to deliver a staged program of performance statement audits from six audits in 2021-22 to 19 audits by 2024-25.

The intent of performance statements audits is to drive improvements in the transparency and quality of entities’ performance reporting and, in turn, increase accountability to the government and public.

Speaker:  Michael White, Executive Director, Australian National Audit Office
Michael White is an Executive Director within The Australian National Audit Office (ANAO), where his responsibilities have included financial statements, performance, and performance statements audits.

Michael is currently part of the ANAO’s division implementing the audits of performance statements, across all major Commonwealth entities, following the pilot undertaken at the request of the Minister for Finance.

Previously Michael undertook the Defence Major Projects reviews and produced the yearly Defence Major Projects Report. Through his work in the Department of Defence, he gained extensive experience in financial statements audit and within performance audit.
