Expressions of Interest - City of Swan - Audit Committee Independent Member

The City of Swan is seeking expressions of interest for an external Independent Member to join its Audit Committee. The appointment will be for a period of two years, commencing October 2019.

The City of Swan Audit Committee plays a key role in guiding and assisting the local government to fulfil its governance and oversight responsibilities in relation to financial reporting, internal control structure, risk management systems, legislative compliance, ethical accountability and the internal and external audit functions. The Committee is established by the Council; it does not have any delegated authority. Membership consists of five members, four Councillors and one Independent Member. Two Councillors are elected as deputies.

The Committee meets four times per year on a Tuesday; meetings are held at the City of Swan Administration Building, Midland, Western Australia.

Suitably qualified and experienced persons who are able to provide the Committee with a strong strategic focus and can address the following critical selection criteria are encouraged to apply:

  1. Relevant professional qualifications (such as in risk management, accounting, legal, finance, auditing, business and planning),
  2. Relevant professional knowledge and expertise,
  3. Understanding of/experience in local government,
  4. Understanding of the role of corporate governance in organisations, and
  5. Current/prior experience on similar committees.
