| 16-Sep-2009 | Benchmarking | IIA Australia | Access: Public |
Key benchmarking study for 2009. Challenging economic times demand more vigilant governance and it is appropriate that organisations are using internal audit to review their operations more extensively. Protiviti and the Institute of Internal Auditors conducted research earlier this year with chief audit executives from over 150 organisations in the public and private sectors. The research highlights that organisations must address a number of issues to enable their internal audit function to more effectively advance good corporate governance. Global Audit Information Network (GAIN)
The Institute of Internal Auditors in Australia endorses The IIA's Global Audit Information Network (GAIN) Service as its platform of choice for benchmarking internal audit activities. GAIN is the only dedicated global benchmarking service for internal audit. Supported by a dedicated team at global headquarters in the United States, GAIN allows users to compare themselves against a comprehensive set of metrics. Users are able to generate a report which compares their organisation against global and local data for their sector and industry in a highly affordable manner.
Any benchmarking effort is only as good as the data in it. For this reason the Institute in Australia is making a concerted effort to ensure that there are good sample sizes of Australian data to allow for comparatives in our market. Through active participation, this benefits all GAIN participants and the profession as a whole. All Australian internal audit activities are encouraged to participate for this reason.
Members of the Australian CAE Service receive a free subscription to GAIN as part of their organisation's subscription to that service.
