Membership Types & Fees

The IIA offers several membership types. Your membership is effective from the date you join, for a 12 month period and is renewable annually.

 

Types of Membership

Ordinary Member

Persons who have responsibility for directing or supervising the internal audit function and those engaged as internal auditors.

Associate Member

Persons who are accountants or of other occupations and who cannot qualify as an Ordinary Member but are engaged in fields related to internal auditing.
 

Educational Member

Educators of, or writers on, internal auditing who cannot qualify as an Ordinary Member.
 

Student Member

Those engaged in full-time study of internal auditing or related courses at universities or colleges.

CAE Service

Exclusive information and networking service provided for Australian chief audit executives. Services are bundled into Core and Premium packages. Find out more in the CAE Service section.

Corporate Membership

Corporate membership packages are available.

 

Membership Designation and CPE Requirements

Membership Designation

Ordinary Members and CAE Service Members may display the designation MIIA(Aust) after their name provided they are financial.

CPE Hours

All members are required to undertake Continuing Professional Education (CPE) to a minimum of 60 hours every two years, with a minimum of 15 hours in any one year. This requirement differs for certified members or retired members. The types of activities which qualify include: attendance at technical sessions, seminars and conferences; college or university courses; formal correspondence programs; reading books, articles and research papers. Full details of the CPE requirement can be found in section 209 of the IIA's Constitution.  

 

2010 Membership Fees

The following fees, valid from January 1 to December 31 2010,  are quoted in Australian dollars and include GST. Membership fees are non-refundable.

2010 Membership Discounts

Organisations which have more than two members are eligible for discounts on membership fees. If your organisation has 3-9 members, you may be entitled to receive a 10% discount off the membership fee. If your organisation has 10+ members, you may be entitled to receive a 20% discount off the membership fee.  The 2010 Membership discount is valid from January 1 to December 31, 2010.
